In drought conditions, the water levels of Loch Glascarnoch fall to reveal the eroded stumps of trees felled in the 1950s (when the dam was constructed). Covered in hoar frost, these tangled sculptures create an other-wordly scene, as the first light of dawn colours the hills on the south-eastern horizon.
